Are you friendly, organised and passionate about providing outstanding customer service?
The Limes Guest House is an independent boutique guest house in York, and we're looking for welcoming, reliable individuals to join our team. We have opportunities available for both full-time and part-time Receptionists.
As the first point of contact for our guests, you'll play a key role in creating a warm, professional and memorable experience from booking through to departure.
About the Role
Unlike a traditional hotel, our guests enjoy the convenience of self check-in using secure key safes. This means there is no overnight reception work, allowing you to focus on providing excellent guest service, maintaining high standards throughout the property and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the guest house.
You'll be responsible for supporting guests before, during and after their stay, managing bookings and helping to maintain the welcoming atmosphere that The Limes Guest House is known for.
As our business continues to grow, we also plan to introduce a room service breakfast offering, giving the successful applicants the opportunity to help shape and develop this exciting new service.
Responsibilities
- Delivering a warm, friendly and professional welcome to all guests.
- Responding promptly to guest enquiries by telephone, email and online messaging.
- Managing reservations and updating booking systems.
- Preparing and monitoring guest arrivals to ensure a seamless self check-in experience.
- Assisting guests throughout their stay with any requests or issues.
- Preparing guest information and check-in details.
- Supporting the housekeeping team by assisting with turning over guest rooms if necessary, helping to ensure every room is presented to an exceptional standard.
- Monitoring room status and reporting maintenance issues where required.
- Carrying out general administration, payment reconciliation and record keeping.
- Maintaining clean, welcoming reception and communal areas.
- Supporting the overall operation of the guest house with any other duties required.
- Assisting with the launch and future delivery of a room service breakfast offering.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, approachable and genuinely enjoys looking after people.
- Organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident using computers and learning new booking systems.
- Able to work independently and use their own initiative.
- Calm under pressure with strong problem-solving skills.
- Flexible to work weekdays, weekends and occasional evenings on a rota basis.
Previous experience in a hotel, hospitality or customer service role would be advantageous.
