Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Chef to join our culinary team here at the Sea Trout. This entry-level position offers a valuable opportunity to develop foundational skills in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen operations within a professional environment. The successful candidate will gain practical experience working alongside experienced chefs, contributing to the creation of high-quality dishes and ensuring food safety standards are maintained. Responsibilities
- Assist in food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and measuring ingredients under supervision
- Support the cooking process by preparing ingredients and following recipes accurately
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen workspace in accordance with food safety regulations
- Help with meal assembly and presentation to ensure dishes meet quality standards
- Follow health and safety guidelines diligently to uphold hygiene standards within the kitchen
- Assist with stock rotation, inventory checks, and storing ingredients appropriately
- Support senior chefs during busy service periods by preparing basic components of dishes
- Contribute to maintaining a positive team environment by working collaboratively with colleagues
Requirements
- Passion for cooking and a keen interest in developing culinary skills
- Basic knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety practices
- Previous experience in a restaurant or catering environment is advantageous but not essential
- Willingness to learn new skills and take direction from experienced chefs
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings and weekends if necessary
- A positive attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic
