Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Landscaper to join our team to lead projects. As a Landscape team leader, you will be responsible for performing a variety of landscape construction tasks and manage the team to ensure that the project is completed on time and to the highest standard. This is a hands-on role that requires physical and mental stamina, problem solving, resilience, great customer service skills and a passion for creating exceptional outdoor spaces.
Key Duties:
- Construct gardens in line with customer's design and specification
- Manage the team members to ensure they are on site and on time.
- Pick up materials as necessary and/ or transport between sites.
- Manage staff to ensure they are working efficiently, safely and effectively.
- Send management updates on project progress
- Effectively plan and set out for the construction works
- Operate construction machinery to excavate levels in accordance to the garden plan and design
- Laying paving, blocks, sleepers, brick retaining walls etc as specified by the plan.
- Operate hand tools and power tools to complete landscape projects
- Dig trenches for the installation of underground utilities or footings as necessary
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning
Experience:
- 2 years previous experience in landscape construction.
- In depth knowledge of landscaping techniques and practices
- Skills and experience in laying paving in various materials (porcelain, sandstone, concrete)
- Skills and experience in cutting various paving materials including how to cut mite joints etc.
- Good understanding of required sub base depths, footings, drainage and fall levels
- Experience and skills in wood working, such as building pergolas, sheds, sleeper beds etc.
- Mechanical knowledge to operate and maintain equipment
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Excellent physical stamina
- Ability to work alone and as part of team
- Experience in managing a team.
- Full drivers’ licence is essential
