We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established specialist mental health provider for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join an adult acute inpatient service.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a supportive multidisciplinary team within a specialist hospital providing inpatient treatment for adults with a range of complex mental health conditions.
The Role
The successful candidate will provide consultant-level psychiatric care for an 18-bed mixed-gender adult acute inpatient ward. You will have responsibility for the assessment and treatment of patients, clinical leadership of the ward and effective multidisciplinary working.
You will work closely with medical, nursing, psychology and therapy colleagues to ensure patients receive safe, effective and recovery-focused care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultant psychiatric care for a caseload of up to 18 inpatients.
- Undertake comprehensive psychiatric assessments and formulate individualised treatment plans.
- Lead ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Provide clinical leadership and support effective clinical decision-making.
- Supervise and support a Specialty Doctor.
- Lead on risk assessment, management and ongoing clinical reviews.
- Support effective discharge planning and patient flow.
- Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to promote high standards of patient care.
- Contribute to clinical governance, audit and service improvement initiatives.
- Develop effective professional relationships with NHS partners, commissioners and other external stakeholders.
- Contribute to senior clinical and management meetings where appropriate.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Current GMC registration.
- Specialist Registration in a relevant psychiatric specialty.
- Approved Clinician status, or eligibility to obtain Approved Clinician status.
- Experience working within UK acute inpatient psychiatry.
- Strong experience managing patients within an acute mental health inpatient environment.
- Excellent clinical leadership and multidisciplinary working skills.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
