Role Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Apprentice Accounts Assistant. This is an entry-level position designed to launch your career in finance and accounting.
You will work closely with our experienced finance team, gaining hands-on, practical experience in daily bookkeeping and accounting tasks while studying towards your professional AAT Level 3 qualification. We will fully fund your training, and you will be allocated 20% "off-the-job" study time to attend college or online classes.
Key Responsibilities
As your training progresses, your responsibilities will grow. Key daily and weekly duties will include:
1. Bookkeeping & Data Entry
- Inputting, updating, and maintaining financial transactions on our cloud accounting software e.g., Xero / QuickBooks / Sage.
- Processing supplier invoices (Accounts Payable) and raising client sales invoices (Accounts Receivable).
- Reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, and petty cash transactions.
2. Compliance & Taxation Support
- Assisting with the preparation and draft compilation of client VAT returns.
- Supporting the team in preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
- Organising client documentation and receipts to support tax compliance.
3. Financial Admin & Client Communication
- Answering basic telephone and email queries from clients and suppliers in a professional manner.
- Assisting in compiling spreadsheet schedules and financial analysis using MS Excel.
- Filing, scanning, and maintaining electronic client records in line with GDPR and data security protocols.
What We Are Looking For (Person Specification)
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
- GCSEs: Minimum Grade 4 (C) or above in Maths and English Language (or equivalent).
- IT Literacy: Confident using MS Office (especially Excel/Spreadsheets) and general computer systems.
- Numeracy & Accuracy: Strong natural numerical skills with high attention to detail.
- Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with colleagues and dealing with clients.

- Willingness to Learn: A genuine enthusiasm for learning double-entry bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Organisation: Reliable, punctual, and capable of managing workload alongside study commitments.
- Team Player: A positive attitude and willingness to support team members when needed.
- Discretion: An understanding of the absolute confidentiality required when handling sensitive financial data.
