Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced HGV C+E Night Driver to join our dynamic team for the night shift.
Typically, this involves picking up a double-decker trailer either from Heysham or Birkenhead port to drop and swap, usually one of the main 3 locations, or, on most days, picking up a trailer from Blackburn yard, dropping and swapping, and delivering it back to the port. Simple run.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a double-decker HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) with a C+E licence during night shifts to perform drop-and-swap deliveries
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checks, ensuring all safety standards are met
- Navigate designated routes efficiently, adhering to traffic laws and company policies
- Complete accurate delivery documentation and logs for each shift
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery status or any issues encountered on route
- Maintain high standards of vehicle cleanliness and safety throughout your shift
Requirements
- Valid HGV C+E driving license with proven experience operating large commercial vehicles
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for commercial driving
- Ability to perform detailed vehicle inspections before and after shifts
- Excellent time management skills to meet tight delivery schedules during night hours
