The Role
The Development Centre Tutor is a lead tutor role and provides focused sessions within an identified specialist area at Old Sarum Development Centre, ensuring safe, person-centred and outcome-focused delivery. The postholder will deliver sessions within an identified specialist area such as creative activities, health and wellbeing, cookery, horticulture, pottery, woodwork, digital skills and employability, or other agreed areas of development centre provision. The role supports individuals to improve wellbeing, develop skills and progress into community participation, volunteering, placements and, where appropriate, paid work. The postholder plays a key role in implementing the 2026–27 Service Development Plan and supporting delivery against the agreed KPI scorecard.
Based in Salisbury working Monday - Friday 37.5 hours per week with flexibility to work occasional weekends, evenings and bank holidays to meet the needs of the service.
- Relevant qualification & skills in the specialist subject area, or equivalent significant experience.
- Experience of delivering person-centred programmes with measurable outcomes for adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs.
- Experience of working with vulnerable clients.
- Experience of working unsupervised and on your own initiative.
- Ability to form and maintain professional working relationships with a range of individuals.
- Experience of working as part of a team.
- Exercise discipline on the minibus where necessary in accordance with the charity guidelines.
- Experience of forming and maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- To be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
