Job Overview
William Gilder Group Ltd is looking to recruit a Workshop Manager to run all aspects of our commercial vehicle workshop based at Teddington Hands near Cheltenham.
We service and maintain our own fleet of around 100 vehicles. In addition, our Industrial Services division operate a wide and varied fleet of jetting, tanker and survey vehicles. We also offer maintenance and repair facilities to third party external clients.
This is a vital role within the organisation. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the workshop.
Main duties and responsibilities:
· Dealing with Fleet issues
· Prioritising workloads for workshop foreman and technicians
· Negotiating deals with parts suppliers
· Managing defect reporting systems
· Regulatory compliance
· Personal and Team development
· Financial reporting to Directors and Accountants
· Maintaining, developing and implementing processes to manage the workshop and facilities to a high standard
· Share knowledge, expertise and best practice with the team
· Maintain high levels of Health & Safety (H&S) including management of workshop induction process and H&S audits
· Working with apprenticeship providers, supporting those individuals on apprenticeship schemes and completing relevant documentation
· Reporting at Director level
· Working to strict Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reporting to senior management on them
Essential Skills:
· Managing a team of technicians with varying abilities
· The ability to work flexibly, manage changing priorities and meet deadlines
· Proven background in identifying operational efficiencies and successful implementation
· Ability to build relationships with other areas of the business to support a ‘one team’ approach
· Excellent communication skills, the ability to write clear and concise reports
· The ability to evaluate problems and identify areas for improvement
· Personal integrity and ability to work independently
· Excellent attention to detail with clear focus on end results
· Good computer skills with experience in all aspects of Microsoft Office
· A full UK driving licence.
Previous experience in the workshop environment is essential, preferably within a transport company.
