Personal Assistant / Carer (Autism and Epilepsy Support)
Location: South Buckinghamshire (Slough border)
Pay:
- £15.26 per hour – Daytime
- £19.84 per hour – Waking Nights & Weekends
- Hours: Flexible - By mutual agreement
- Day and waking night shifts available (Zero Hours Contract)
- Start Date: Flexible
We are seeking a dedicated, reliable Personal Assistant / Carer to join an established support team for our son, a 27-year-old man with severe autism and epilepsy, living at home with his family in South Buckinghamshire.
The Role
- Supporting a young man to live a safe, fulfilling, and enjoyable life
- Promoting independence, dignity, and choice
- Assisting with daily routines, activities, and community outings
- Supporting communication with a non-verbal person
- Managing epilepsy and supporting during periods of challenging behaviour
- Working as part of a supportive team, while also using your own initiative
Daytime support: 2:1 staffing (some 1:1 when at home)
Night support: Sole cover during waking nights
Hours & Contract
- Day and night shifts available, including some holiday and sickness cover
- Zero hours contract with flexibility by mutual agreement
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Patient, calm and unflappable
- Positive, proactive and reliable
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Able to build trusting relationships
- Experienced supporting individuals with autism and/or challenging behaviour (preferred but not essential if willing to learn)
- Upbeat and encouraging
Essential Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
- Ability to support and communicate with a non-verbal person
- Willingness to work flexible shifts (by mutual agreement)
- Right to work in the UK
Training & Support
- Full paid training provided
- Epilepsy awareness and behaviour support training
- Ongoing support from family and experienced care team
Compliance & Safer Recruitment

- Two satisfactory references required
- Must have legal right to work in the UK

- Zero hours contract
- Day shifts: £15.26 per hour

- Holiday pay entitlement in line with statutory requirements
