Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Chef Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality meals. This role involves assisting with food preparation, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and ensuring smooth operation during service hours. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking and a keen eye for food safety standards, contributing to an efficient and welcoming kitchen environment. Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and measuring ingredients
- Support the head chef in cooking and plating dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of all kitchen areas, including workstations and storage spaces
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene practices at all times
- Help with meal preparation for various service periods, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner shifts
- Serve food to customers when required, providing excellent customer service
- Restock ingredients and supplies as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Assist in cleaning kitchen equipment and utensils after use
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene regulations
- Experience working in a restaurant or catering setting is advantageous
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently under pressure
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety
- Flexibility to work during busy service hours, including weekends if required
