Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Project Manager to lead the delivery of multiple complex projects and commissions, including fixed-price projects under NEC Type A & E contracts. You will take overall responsibility for project delivery, commercial performance, governance, risk and client relationships, proactively anticipating and resolving issues to maintain successful outcomes.
You will provide leadership to Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers, ensuring consistent application of project management best practice and supporting the development of the wider team. As a senior client-facing representative of SRC, you will be expected to build strong relationships, provide credible advice and confidently engage with senior stakeholders across complex operational environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the delivery of projects and programmes to agreed quality, time and budget tolerances, ensuring effective management of risks, dependencies and interfaces.
- Take overall responsibility for project planning, governance, reporting, commercial performance and delivery assurance.
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary consultant and project teams, establishing clear responsibilities, deliverables and priorities.
- Manage projects through all phases of the project lifecycle, from initial definition and planning through delivery, handover and close-out.
- Establish appropriate project governance, controls and reporting arrangements, ensuring timely escalation and resolution of key issues.
- Lead resource planning and allocation across projects and commissions to support successful delivery.
- Lead project risk, issue, dependency and change management processes.
- Provide consistent and robust commercial reporting internally and to clients, including cost forecasting and performance updates.
- Administer NEC and other relevant contracts, ensuring robust cost control, variation management and timely management of Early Warnings and Compensation Events.
- Monitor consultant and contractor performance, ensuring deliverables meet agreed specifications, standards and programme requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders, representing SRC confidently at senior-level meetings.
- Provide guidance, mentoring and oversight to Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers, supporting their professional development and delegating responsibilities appropriately.
- Support senior management in maintaining client relationships and identifying opportunities to generate repeat business and develop new work.
- Contribute to bids, proposals and mobilisation of new commissions.
- Promote consistent project management standards, lessons learned and continuous improvement across the wider SRC team.
Essential Criteria
- Educated to degree level in project management and/or a construction/engineering-related discipline.
- Strong knowledge and proven experience of aviation processes and operational environments.
- 7+ years' project management experience, including responsibility for complex projects, programmes or multiple concurrent commissions.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing other project management professionals.
- Proven track record within an engineering or project management consultancy, preferably within aviation, transportation or infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts, with demonstrated experience in contract administration, commercial management and risk management.
- Experience of aviation governance frameworks, such as airport stage-gate processes, CAPEX approval processes or equivalent assurance frameworks.
- Demonstrable experience managing project governance, risk, change, dependencies, resources and commercial performance.
- Strong client and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage and influence at senior levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions and provide leadership under pressure.
- Strong technical project management knowledge and ability to provide guidance and assurance to other members of the project team.
- Experience preparing and presenting high-quality project, programme, commercial and performance reports.
- Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Project.
- Experience using contract management software such as Asite.
- Professional membership of, or advanced progress towards membership of, a relevant professional body such as APM or PMI.
- NEC or other relevant project management accreditation.
Desirable Criteria:
- Master's degree in Project Management, Engineering Management or a related discipline.
- Chartered status with a relevant professional body.
- Significant experience delivering projects within a live airport environment.
- Experience managing portfolios or programmes comprising multiple concurrent projects.
- Advanced skills in project management software such as MS Project or Primavera P6 and familiarity with commercial management tools.
- Experience supporting business development, bids and mobilisation of new commissions.

Pay: £55,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
