Job Title: Financial Adviser – CF30
Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 Basic + Bonus & Additional Earnings, OTE £100,000+
Location: Inverness, Scotland – Office-based with client meetings as required
About our clients and the role:
Swarm Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with one of Scotland’s leading wealth management practices and a highly established St. James’s Place Senior Partner Practice.
Founded in 2014, the company has grown significantly through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions, building a strong reputation for providing high-quality, relationship-led financial planning to individuals, families, business owners and professionals. The business has also been recognised nationally, including being named Best Financial Advice Firm in Scotland & Northern Ireland and Best Financial Advice Firm to Work For in the UK at the 2024 Professional Adviser Awards.
The firm places a strong emphasis on long-term relationships, professional development and providing advisers with the infrastructure and support they need to focus on what they do best – delivering excellent financial advice. The Inverness operation has an established client base and is looking to appoint an experienced Financial Adviser to take responsibility for servicing and developing these relationships.
This is primarily a servicing role, rather than a pure new-business position. The successful candidate will inherit an established client bank of approximately 150 households, representing around £30 million of funds under management, and will be responsible for maintaining those relationships, conducting regular reviews and ensuring clients continue to receive a high level of service.
The opportunity could suit an experienced adviser looking for an established client bank and strong support structure, as well as someone who is looking for a longer-term opportunity to take ownership of an established Inverness operation.
There is also the potential for the successful candidate to take on greater responsibility for the Inverness business over the next 2–3 years, with the possibility of eventually acquiring an interest in the business with financial support.
Salary & Benefits:
- Basic Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 (Depending on Experience)
- Potential to increase basic salary by £5,000 for each additional £10 million of FUM managed, subject to the firm's remuneration structure
- Discretionary management bonus of approximately £5,000 per year, based on team contribution and internal performance measures
- Client feedback bonus of between £1,000 and £10,000 per year based on strong client feedback and service levels
- New Business Bonus: 30% of qualifying new business generated above a £20,000 threshold
- New business threshold assessed on an ongoing basis, with qualifying earnings paid monthly once the threshold has been exceeded
- New business generated from allocated clients can also contribute towards the bonus
- Death in Service benefit
- Pension scheme
- Flexible working environment focused on output and client service rather than rigid working hours
- Quarterly team social events and activities
- Full paraplanning and client management support
- Dedicated administrative support, allowing you to focus primarily on advising and client relationships
- Opportunities for mentoring, professional development and peer-to-peer learning
- Potential long-term opportunity to take greater responsibility for the Inverness operation and potentially acquire an interest in the business
Working Hours:
- Monday – Friday
- Full-time
- Flexible working environment, with a focus on outcomes rather than rigid working hours
- Office-based in Inverness, with client meetings arranged as required
- The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of their diary and manage their client commitments effectively
Required Experience:
- Current CF30 approval or equivalent
- Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning as a minimum
- Proven experience working as a Financial Adviser
- Experience servicing an established client bank
- Strong technical knowledge across pensions, investments, retirement planning and wider financial planning
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering excellent client outcomes
- A professional, trustworthy and personable approach
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of an established client base
- A proactive attitude and willingness to contribute to the wider team
The successful candidate does not need to be aggressively focused on new business. This is primarily a relationship and servicing opportunity, although there will be scope to generate additional business from existing clients and develop the client bank over time.
The role would particularly suit someone who has reached a stage in their career where they value an established client base, strong support infrastructure and the opportunity to build something longer term.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Take responsibility for an established client bank of approximately 150 households
- Service approximately £30 million of existing funds under management
- Conduct regular client review meetings and ensure clients receive ongoing, high-quality advice
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients
- Ensure all client activity is completed in accordance with FCA and St. James’s Place regulatory and compliance requirements
- Work closely with the firm's paraplanning and client management teams to ensure cases progress efficiently
- Make use of the firm's administrative and technical support structure, minimising unnecessary back-office administration
- Communicate complex financial planning concepts clearly and confidently
- Contribute to the wider Inverness team and the continued development of the local operation
