The University of Hull London Study Centre (LSC) was launched in May 2024. This exciting new campus has continued to exceed expectations and further development, and growth is now taking place. The London campus demonstrates the desire for students to access the University of Hull’s career-focused postgraduate courses, expert academics, leading research programmes, and personal study environments, in the heart of the UK’s capital.
The post holder will work within Student Administration and will primarily undertake the University’s Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) statements issuing duties for new students at the London Study Centre, however they will also be expected to provide support with CAS issue for Hull campus students.
The post holder will be expected to undertake their duties in line with the University’s sponsor duties in relation to staff immigration matters, and ensuring that processes are in place to maintain the University’s compliance of UKVI sponsor obligations.
Student Administration is part of the Academic Services, which enhances the student experience through the provision of high quality advice, guidance and support to students of the University. The directorate places service excellence at the core of its activity through a team of highly motivated, professional people. Comprising of a variety of teams geared to support students, the service area places student achievement and retention at the core of its business and seeks to take a proactive and innovative approach to the activities offered as part of the service area.
The post holder will be a point of contact for colleagues, in relation to CAS issue and will maintain specialist knowledge of the Student visa route and the University’s responsibilities. They will be expected to keep up to date with changes by familiarising themselves with the latest UKVI guidance, and attending training sessions when necessary. They will also be expected to engage with sector colleagues to maintain their knowledge. The post holder will be expected to engage closely with colleagues in Cambridge Education Group (CEG), as well as University staff in Admissions and Global Engagement.
The directorate is fully committed to ensuring all staff are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to undertake their role as part of a professional, sector leading service. Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the post
The post holder will primarily be responsible for effective processing and administration of Certificate of Acceptance of Studies statements (CAS) which are required by new international applicants who need to apply for a visa to study at the University of Hull.
The post holder will be responsible for providing the Team and the wider University with a clear, concise, efficient administrative service, ensuring they follow correct processes, and customer service levels are demonstrated at a high level, including:
- Issuing timely and accurate CAS Statements (primarily for London Study Centre students);
- Dealing with ongoing queries from applicants concerning CAS details;
- Regular liaison with stakeholders involved in the international student journey;
- Preparing files for UKVI audits as appropriate and involved in planning and delivery for a UKVI audit;
- Link with the Fees Collection team for finance matters relating to CAS data;
- Liaise with the University Immigration Advisors on complex cases and form part of the borderline sponsorship decision making process Inform system development needs and contribute to effective testing, implementation and training of partners and colleagues;
- Work flexibly with colleagues across Academic Services, providing support during major University business-critical events;
- Answer student CAS enquiries;
- Deliver the main Enrolment activities as part of the International Engagement & Compliance Team;
- Undertake compliance checks and mandatory reporting duties as part of the International Engagement & Compliance Team as needed.
All team members are expected to be flexible and be able to move into other parts of the Service to meet applicant demand and maintain workflow targets as required. You will therefore be required to undertake necessary training in other parts of the Service to be ready for flexibility of workload at peak times.
During peak times, there are restrictions on taking leave and the expectation of some weekend and longer day working according to business needs.
