My name’s Sam and I’m the Branch Director at Jackson Fire & Security Bromley. Although we’re called the Bromley branch, our office is actually based in Sevenoaks, where we hold interviews, team meetings and training.
Rather than copying a generic advert which includes phrases like “industry leading” and “exciting opportunity”, I’ve written this advert from scratch with the aim of letting you know who we’re looking for, why you might like to work here and what you can expect if you join us.
I hope from reading this you'll see that this is not a generic engineer role in a large, faceless company. We are a small, growing branch where quality, customer care, technical standards and trust matter.
The primary area we cover is South East London and North Kent and the Bromley Areas (SE, DA and BR postcodes). Within those areas we predominately look after Fire Alarm systems and alongside those also provide Fire Extinguishers, Access Control and CCTV.
Building trust with our clients by doing things properly and offering solid, honest advice is at the heart of what we do.

About us
Jackson Fire & Security has been established since 1991. The Bromley branch opened in 2023 and has grown steadily since then.
We are still a small team, which means you will know everyone by name. You will have direct access to the Branch Director, Lead Engineer and office team, and you will be supported rather than left to figure everything out alone.
The majority of our work is servicing and upgrading fire alarm systems. We maintain life safety systems across schools, apartment buildings, commercial premises and other sites where people rely on those systems working properly when needed. We do also work on Access Control, CCTV and Emergency Lighting.
What the role involves
Most weeks you will be carrying out planned servicing on conventional and addressable fire alarm systems.
You may also be involved in fault finding, small remedial works, installation support, commissioning support where appropriate, customer advice and reporting and maintaining high service standards.
We do not expect engineers to rush through visits just to hit unrealistic numbers. We would rather work is done properly than done quickly.
What we are looking for
· at least two years' experience servicing fire alarm systems;
· confidence working on conventional and addressable systems;
· ability to produce clear and accurate service reports;
· professional communication with customers;
· organisation, reliability and trustworthiness;
· pride in high-quality work;
· attention to detail;
· a willingness to keep learning and developing.
Essential requirements
· at least two years' fire alarm servicing experience;
· full UK driving licence;
· right to work in the UK;
· willingness to complete BS7858 screening and an enhanced DBS check;
· ability to travel across South East London and North / West Kent.
Useful but not essential
· emergency lighting experience;
· fire extinguisher experience;
· installation experience;
· commissioning experience;
· manufacturer training;
· BS5839 training or similar.
We can teach additional skills. What matters most is attitude, reliability, honesty and pride in the work.

This role will not suit someone who wants to cut corners, rush jobs, avoid paperwork or do the bare minimum. It also will not suit someone who dislikes customer contact or does not take reporting seriously.
Our reputation depends on engineers doing the job properly, explaining issues clearly and protecting customer trust.
Salary and benefits
Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
If you’re already an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer, you’ll quite rightly expect to improve your salary by moving.
If you’re earlier in your career but have the right attitude, we’ll invest heavily in your development and reward your progress.
