Assistant Shop Manager (Portsmouth Branch)
The position is working for one of the leading suppliers of fresh fish and seafood on the south coast. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to start a career in a well-established company with excellent prospect and career progression.
Customer service and providing the freshest fish direct from our boats is at the heart of the business. We require an assistant manager for our shop based in Camber Docks, Portsmouth (next to Isle of Wight ferry terminal) the site has undergone a substantial refurbishment in 2023 and as a result the footfall has increased substantially. There is currently a team of 8-10 staff.
We offer a great selection of fresh fish & Shellfish as well as making our own Pies, Fish cakes, and opening & serving oysters, made to order Rolls and much more....
Salary and working hours:
The shop is open 7 days a week and the working days for this role will be Sunday to Thursday 7am-5:30pm (Friday & Saturday off). This will need to be flexible to cover holiday and/or periods of staff shortages.
Salary £30,000
Overall aim:
To assist the manager with the running and day to day management of the retail fish shop
The person MUST have proven skills in the following:
- Excellent customer service
- A proven Commitment to work
- A great team player
- Computer skills (both PC & till systems)
- Flexible attitude to work
- Excellent organisation skills
- Experience in running a team of a minimum of 5 people
- Ability to complete administrative tasks, checklists, Logs etc
- Proficient in staff management, rotas, daily tasks.
- Proven record of staff training & recruitment
- Excellent understand and use of social media for business
- Good understanding of health & safety and food hygiene rules (ideally has qualifications but not essential)
