Overview
Thinkster Maths is launching in Leicester, United Kingdom and we're looking for passionate and dedicated Maths Tutors to join our founding team.
Thinkster takes a different approach to traditional tutoring, combining personalised learning, smart technology and expert human tutoring to help children understand Maths, build confidence and make measurable progress.
As a Thinkster Maths Tutor, you'll work directly with learners from Reception through to GCSE, helping each child understand what they need to learn next and supporting them to become confident, independent mathematicians.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference while becoming part of the Thinkster Leicester launch team.
Duties
- Deliver engaging, personalised Maths tutoring sessions to learners from Reception through to GCSE
- Use Thinkster's structured learning programmes and resources to support each learner's individual needs
- Assess understanding and identify areas where additional support or challenge is needed
- Use technology and learner data to understand progress and target teaching effectively
- Explain mathematical concepts clearly using age-appropriate and engaging approaches
- Build positive relationships that encourage learners to participate, ask questions and develop confidence
- Adapt your teaching approach to accommodate different abilities and learning needs, including SEND where appropriate
- Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback
- Work collaboratively with the Thinkster team to support positive outcomes for learners
- Create a welcoming, encouraging and positive learning environment
Skills and Experience
- Experience tutoring or teaching Maths, ideally within the UK curriculum
- Strong Maths knowledge and the ability to explain concepts clearly
- Experience working with children or young people
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, encouraging and enthusiastic approach
- Ability to adapt teaching to different learning styles, abilities and needs
- Strong organisation, reliability and professionalism
- A Maths, Education or related degree/qualification is desirable
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable but not essential
- Experience supporting KS2, KS3 or GCSE Maths is particularly valuable

Safeguarding & DBS
The safety and wellbeing of our learners is fundamental to Thinkster.
Successful candidates will be required to:
- Hold an Enhanced DBS check suitable for working with children, or be willing to obtain one before commencing tutoring
- Provide appropriate references
- Provide proof of identity and right to work in the UK
- Complete required safeguarding and onboarding procedures
- Meet Thinkster's safer recruitment requirements
An Enhanced DBS registered with the DBS Update Service is desirable.
