Cairellot Learning Centre currently has Modern Apprenticeship opportunities available across nurseries in Renfrewshire, Glasgow, Ayrshire and Inverclyde. This is a fantastic opportunity to work and train in a nursery setting while gaining your SVQ qualification in Social Services (Children and Young People) Level 7.
This role is ideally suited to young people aged 16–19 and includes an hourly apprenticeship wage.
Hours: 32–36 hours per week (4 or 5 day working weeks available)
Locations: Renfrewshire, Glasgow & Inverclyde
What the role involves:
- A full-time position within an Early Learning & Childcare and Out of School Care setting
- A comprehensive training programme, learning from qualified and experienced practitioners
- Supporting and nurturing young children, ensuring their wellbeing, safety, and development
- Creating exciting and engaging learning experiences tailored to each child’s pace
- Gaining knowledge of child development, care routines, and play-based learning
- Learning about GIRFEC (Getting It Right For Every Child) and national frameworks
- Developing care and pedagogical skills to meet individual needs
- Contributing to the day-to-day running of a nursery environment
Alongside your role, you’ll complete:
- An SVQ qualification in Social Services (Children and Young People)
- Regular meetings and support from your allocated SVQ assessor
- Written work and reflective learning to demonstrate your understanding and competencies
Training is delivered by Cairellot Learning Centre, an SQA-accredited centre, in partnership with Skills Development Scotland.
Requirements:
- Enthusiasm and commitment to delivering high-quality care and learning
- No prior experience required – just a genuine passion for working with children
- Ideally, candidates should have National 5 English and one other subject
- Must be able to provide two satisfactory references, and undergo PVG and SSSC registration
