Relief Chef Manager – M4/M5 Corridor

At TNS Catering, food is at the heart of what we do. We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Relief Chef Manager who can provide high-quality operational cover across our business while also helping us drive food standards, creativity and consistency.
This is more than simply a relief-cover role. You'll work across a variety of sites, supporting our teams with everything from day-to-day Chef Manager cover to VIP hospitality, food-led events, culinary pop-ups, audits and operational support.
We're looking for someone who can walk into a kitchen, quickly understand the operation, build relationships with the team and deliver great food and service from day one.

Role Overview:
- Providing relief cover across a range of contract catering business
- To provide Operational Support to the business, for example completing Food Safety and Health & Safety Audits when visiting sites.
- To provide Operational Support with food led initiatives, including ad hoc VIP hospitality, site based events and monthly culinary pop ups.
- To work with the onsite teams in order to build, inspire and develop the team motivating them to continually improve on the standards of service, food quality, and overall customer experience whilst at the same time managing the service to budget.
- To ensure strict adherence to Food Safety/ Health & Safety legislation and record keeping and assist teams to improve understanding whenever gaps are identified.
- Always representing TNS to the highest standards in all locations visited.
This role requires travel across multiple business regions, including (but not limited to) Bristol, Swindon, Oxford, Bath and Gloucester. The successful applicant must therefore be prepared to travel regularly as required by the business.
The role operates predominantly Monday to Friday, during daytime hours, offering a strong work-life balance compared with traditional hospitality. However, flexibility will be required to support occasional evening or weekend events, hospitality and operational requirements.
Although primarily focused on the M4/M5 corridor and South West region, you will also be expected to provide support to other regions across the UK when required; therefore, full flexibility is an essential requirement of this role.
We also have one site in the North of England, which may require occasional support. Where appropriate, travel by air will be arranged and covered by TNS Catering, along with associated business travel expenses.
Mileage will be reimbursed at current HMRC rates, and for excessive distance or extended assignments, the Company will arrange accommodation at their own expense. Expenses are paid twice per month, ensuring speedy reimbursement of expenditure.
