Job Summary:
To ensure the timely and accurate delivery of goods to residential addresses, predominantly within the local area, while supporting general warehouse and operations teams during non-driving periods. The role requires a strong focus on manual labour and safe driving practices, with occasional longer-distance deliveries as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely deliver goods to residential and occasionally commercial addresses ensuring all items are handled with care and delivered on time.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring items are securely packed and protected during transit.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries while adhering to traffic laws and company policies.
- Perform general warehousing duties, including packing, loading, and unloading goods.
- Support the operations team by carrying out manual labour tasks when deliveries are not required.
- Operate a counterbalance forklift truck (FLT) as needed for moving goods around the warehouse and to the van.
- Assist in maintaining an organised and safe working environment in both warehouse and factory areas.
- Conduct pre-delivery vehicle inspections and report any defects or issues to the manager.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with team members and management to ensure the smooth flow of operations.
- Occasionally drive longer distances for deliveries further afield as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall goals of the company.
Education and Experience:
- Full UK driving licence (required).
- Counterbalance FLT licence (required).
- Reach truck licence (advantageous but not required).
- Experience in driving delivery vehicles, preferably for local deliveries.
- Ability to perform manual labour and handle heavy lifting.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Due to business motor insurance policy restrictions, applicants must be aged 21 or over for this role.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
- Experience in warehouse or factory operations (preferred but not essential).
