Our treatment plants and incinerators are at the heart of our business, and as our Apprentice Maintenance Engineer you’ll be delivering against our promise to protect what matters in a practical way, by servicing and maintaining a variety of machinery responsible for the safe treatment and incineration of clinical waste.
Our apprenticeship scheme is perfect for those looking to continue their learning journey onto Level 3 Engineering whilst gaining experience in a workplace environment. Through work experience, studying, coaching, training and development (both practical and vocational), the apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills that you will gain from working closely with our experienced engineers.
*Ideal candidate must have already completed their Level 1 in Engineering & reside in the Bridgend and have a full driving licence.
The apprenticeship Involves:
- Working towards being fully conversant with all engineering aspects of the plant.
- Working with the team to record and carry out planned preventative, predictivemaintenance, work under the guidance of the Plant Manager.
- Training Development in Engineering skills specific to Stericycle Processing plants, and Continuous Improvements.
- You will play a key role in ensuring the plant complies to the Regulatory Compliant requirements.
- To be Involved with Problem Solving Exercises, and learn how to identify the root cause, and implement corrective actions to reduce, eliminate the failure mode.
- Working closely with the shift supervisors to ensure there are no conflicts with maintenance works and continued plant operation.
- Traveling to our different Stericycle sites with potential overnight stays, to receive additional training and exposure to a variety of machinery.
- Working with the team to maintain the workshop area and subsequent critical spares availability to ensure minimum downtime.
- Working towards being fully conversant with all engineering aspects of the plant.
- Completing maintenance logs in line with company B.M.S System.
To Succeed in this role:
- You’ll have already completed your Level 1 in Engineering.
- You’ll have and inquisitive mindset, and a Can-do Attitude. You will thrive on being involved in problem solving and improving plant integrity.
- You’ll have a very good degree of reliability, plenty of flexibility to fulfil all aspect of your training program.
- You’ll attend college and complete all course work in line with relevant deadlines.
