Come and Join our hard working team working over two busy established businesses in the heart of Kelso. The Kitchen Kelso & Rothbury Home Bakery. We are looking for ideally a Full Time member of staff, but would consider a part-time flexible member of staff. If you take great pride in food preparation, organisation, front of house serving customers, then this job may be for you! This involves a mixture of early starts and weekend working on a rota basis.
Duties
- Assist in food production and food preparation activities to ensure timely delivery of baked goods and other menu items
- Support baking processes by measuring ingredients, mixing doughs, and operating baking equipment under supervision
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery/kitchen workspace, including washing utensils, cleaning surfaces, and storing ingredients properly
- Follow food safety standards and hygiene protocols to uphold health regulations and ensure product quality
- Serving front of house by taking orders and money-handling.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations and excellent customer service when applicable
- Support the culinary team during busy periods by preparing ingredients or assisting with basic cooking tasks
Skills
- Experience in food production, food preparation, or cooking within a bakery or restaurant setting
- Knowledge of baking techniques and familiarity with kitchen equipment used in baking processes
- Strong understanding of food safety practices and hygiene standards
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is highly desirable
- Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Willingness to learn new skills and contribute positively to the bakery team
