Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals in various care settings, including nursing homes, assisted living, and home care environments. The role involves supporting clients with daily activities, medication management, and emotional well-being, ensuring they receive respectful and personalised care. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Administer medication in accordance with prescribed care plans and medical terminology
- Support clients with meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional needs
- Implement behaviour management strategies tailored to individual requirements, including dementia or Alzheimer's care
- Maintain accurate documentation of care plans, patient progress, and incident reports
- Provide emotional support and companionship to promote mental well-being
- Support clients with activities of daily living, including light housekeeping and laundry tasks
- Drive clients safely to appointments or outings as required
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care and case management
- Follow health and safety protocols diligently, including first aid procedures when necessary
- Assist with specialised hospice or palliative care as needed
Skills
- Proven experience in nursing home or care home environments is desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medication administration procedures
- Experience in dementia or Alzheimer's care is advantageous
- Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate approach towards senior or vulnerable adults
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for mobility assistance or equipment handling
- Excellent organisational skills for managing care plans and documentation
- Effective communication skills for engaging with clients, families, and healthcare teams
- Valid driving licence is preferred for transporting clients or running errands
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging behaviour effectively
- First aid certification is highly desirable but can be provided during training
