Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Weekend and Relief Cook to join our team. This role involves preparing and cooking meals in a fast-paced environment, ensuring high standards of food safety and quality. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering delicious, nutritious meals while maintaining a clean and organised kitchen. This position offers flexibility for those looking to work weekends or as relief staff across various shifts, providing valuable experience in a supportive setting.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to specified recipes and dietary requirements
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, marinating, and portioning ingredients
- Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are strictly adhered to during food handling and preparation
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitising surfaces, and storing ingredients appropriately
- Support the team during busy periods by assisting with serving meals and managing the dining area
- Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment at all times
- Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels, ordering and notifying management of supplies needed
Experience
- Previous experience in food preparation or cooking within a professional kitchen environment is preferred
- Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures is essential
- Experience working in a restaurant or catering setting is advantageous
- Familiarity with meal preparation techniques and culinary practices is desirable
- Previous serving experience will be considered an asset but is not mandatory
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Flexibility to work weekends, relief shifts, including early mornings or late evenings as required
