Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Healthcare Assistant (HCA) / Phlebotomist to join our medical team. This role involves providing essential patient care, performing blood collection procedures, and supporting clinical staff on minor procedures . The successful candidate will possess a experience in phlebotomy and laboratory procedures. Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- To assist the consultants in their clinics including minor procedures (swabs, smear test, coil fitting) and chaperoning when required;
- To undertake all phlebotomy within the practice, ensuring samples are collected/transported in a timely manner;
- To retrieve tests results and inform consultants/patients as per consultant protocol in a timely manner;
- To ensure all case notes and results are filed appropriately;
- To prepare and ensure consultation rooms are fully equipped, clean and tidy prior to start of clinics;
- To check and maintain stock levels within the consulting rooms, ensuring medical supplies are within expiration dates;
- To support the Administrators in providing an efficient and effective frontline service, this includes taking and passing on messages and following up on outcomes to close queries, booking of appointments and other related tasks as directed by the Practice Manager;
- Maintain an effective flow of communication with the team and consultant users on all relevant matters;
Job Purpose:
To provide an effective, efficient and customer focused quality service to patients under the direction of the Practice Manager, with particular emphasis on supporting consultants on clinical processes and procedures, and undertake phlebotomy work for the Practice. This post is subject to a 6 months probationary period.
- Ensure patient confidentiality is kept at all times;
- Undertake any other duties following consultation with the Practice Manager
Qualifications
- Certified in phlebotomy
- Compassionate approach towards patients of all ages, including paediatrics
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
