We are Kingfisher - a Portsmouth-based property company with a portfolio of residential and commercial addresses in the local area. We are looking for a Property Maintenance Operative to join our team in order to assist with the day-to-day maintenance duties of our portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for liaising with the property management team, undertaking site visits, providing remedial works and further works where required.
Duties and Skills Required:
We are seeking candidates with a background of building and maintenance work. The role is not limited to the following tasks and will develop and change as the role develops in the business and is subject to change, at any time.
- Attending pre-booked visits to residential and commercial tenants
- Assessing what works are required
- Performing primary remedial works as well as further works if required
- Reporting to the office staff what actions have been taken, and if any further visits are required
The successful candidate will have:
- A background in building and property maintenance, including knowledge of plumbing and electrical household appliances.
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, including fixing leaking taps and pipes, replacing washers and seals, clearing blocked sinks and drains, repairing toilet mechanisms, and replacing or fitting plumbing fixtures.
- Knowledge of basic electrical maintenance, including replacing light fittings, switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, and carrying out basic electrical fault identification, while working safely and within appropriate regulations.
- Ability to identify common faults with heating and hot-water systems, including radiators, thermostats, valves, and hot-water cylinders.
- Experience with doors, windows, locks, hinges, handles, and other fixtures, including adjustment, repair, and replacement.
- Knowledge of painting, decorating, plaster repairs, tiling, sealant, and general finishing work.
- Experience using common hand and power tools safely and appropriately for maintenance and repair work.
- A personable manner

- A full and clean UK driving license with own vehicle
Initially we are looking to hire one person on a part-time basis for a three-month probationary period. There will be scope to continue in employment after this period, subject to suitability.
Contractually working three weekdays for eight hours a day: Wednesday to Friday, with the option for overtime as and when required.
Starting Salary: £16 per hour plus mileage
If employment continues beyond the first three months, the hourly rate will increase to £17.54.
