Job Overview
Camden Facilities Management is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Air Conditioning and HVAC Engineer to carry out planned preventative maintenance, servicing, reactive repairs, fault-finding and minor installation works across Camden’s corporate buildings, schools and public buildings.
The successful candidate will help maintain safe, comfortable and energy-efficient environments and will work alongside Camden’s electrical and mechanical engineers as part of the M&E Operations Team.
This role requires strong commercial air conditioning, HVAC, refrigeration, F-Gas, VRV/VRF, split systems, AHUs, FCUs, ventilation, heat pumps, fault-finding, PPM, reactive maintenance, CAFM and mobile working experience.

This is a trade-specific Air Conditioning and HVAC Engineer role.
Candidates must hold NVQ Level 3 or an equivalent recognised qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and a current F-Gas Category 1 certification.
Candidates must have recent practical experience maintaining split, multi-split and VRV/VRF systems, along with AHUs, fan coil units, ventilation systems, heat pumps and commercial HVAC equipment.
The role is van-mobile and requires a full UK driving licence. Candidates must also be comfortable working independently in occupied buildings, including schools and other public buildings.
Please do not submit candidates based only on broad “multi-skilled” claims. The CV must clearly evidence the primary air conditioning / HVAC trade experience and mandatory qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out PPM, servicing, reactive repairs and fault-finding
- Complete minor installation works where required
- Service, maintain and repair split systems
- Service, maintain and repair multi-split systems
- Maintain VRV / VRF and DX systems
- Maintain heat pumps and fan coil units
- Maintain AHUs and extract/supply ventilation systems
- Diagnose faults across commercial HVAC systems
- Replace compressors, expansion valves, fan motors, PCB controls, sensors and contactors
- Undertake refrigerant leak detection
- Undertake refrigerant recovery, pressure testing and system evacuation
- Work in line with F-Gas requirements
- Carry out commissioning and seasonal performance inspections where required
- Complete AHU inspections
- Replace filters and belts
- Carry out coil cleaning, condensate tray cleaning and drain testing
- Inspect fans, motors, ventilation equipment and controls
- Support maintenance of pumps, pressurisation units, expansion vessels and calorifiers where competent
- Support maintenance of plate heat exchangers, motorised valves and heating controls where competent
- Identify underlying faults and recommend effective remedial works
- Help reduce repeat failures and improve system performance
- Maintain accurate job records using Camden’s CAFM system
- Use issued mobile technology to record findings, materials, actions and completions live on site
- Manage and prioritise allocated workload
- Meet PPM and reactive maintenance targets
- Liaise professionally with school staff, caretakers, building users, contractors and colleagues
- Complete dynamic risk assessments
- Comply with permit-to-work, working-at-height and safety procedures
- Maintain the work vehicle, tools and equipment appropriately
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent recognised qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
- Current F-Gas Category 1 certification
- Practical experience maintaining split systems
- Practical experience maintaining multi-split systems
- Practical experience maintaining VRV / VRF systems
- Experience maintaining AHUs
- Experience maintaining FCUs
- Experience maintaining ventilation systems
- Experience maintaining heat pumps
- Commercial HVAC equipment experience
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
