Fleet and Plant Manager
Location: Heywood, Greater Manchester
Salary: £37,500–£45,000 per year
About Us
CKR Utilities Limited is a family-run business founded in 2010 by Craig Broadhurst. Backed by a young management team and experienced industry professionals, we've grown from a single two-man gang into a team of over 200 people working across the North West.
We support utility companies across the region in maintaining their infrastructure, and we're expanding further in the coming years alongside our major clients. Most of our work is carried out for United Utilities via Tier 1 contractors such as Network Plus and the M Group, alongside other clients including OCU Group and Saphire Utility Solutions. Our services cover the repair and maintenance of water mains, water meter installation, private water main leak repairs, and backfill and reinstatement work.
Our main trading site is our unit and yard in Heywood, with an additional yard in Leyland and our head office in Preston.

- Manage relationships with maintenance providers, contractors and workshops.
- Track maintenance spend, fuel usage, budgets and fleet KPIs.
- Keep fleet records and compliance documentation accurate and up to date.
- Champion health & safety standards, and lead on continuous improvement and fleet renewal planning.
What We're Looking For
- Solid understanding of DVSA regulations, Operator's Licence compliance and UK transport law.
- Hands-on experience managing fleet maintenance, compliance and day-to-day operational performance.
- Strong leadership, organisational and planning ability.
- Confidence managing contractors, workshops and external suppliers.
- Comfortable using fleet management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Transport Manager CPC, IOSH/NEBOSH or FORS knowledge is a plus, but not essential.
- At least 2 years' experience managing fleet maintenance, compliance and operational performance.
