Job Summary
We have an rare opportunity to join our iconic Boston-based family owned business at an exciting time of engineering innovation!
In this role you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers to support manufacturing operations in a hands-on capacity, improving processes, and ensure we produce product of the highest quality. You will oversee the maintenance, repair, and optimisation of our specialised confectionery lines (Baker Perkins, Sandiacre, and EK4) while mentoring a team of multi-skilled engineers to achieve world-class OEE.
Key Responsibilities
· Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the technical lead for Baker Perkins (cooking/depositing), Sandiacre (VFFS bagging), and Theegarten-Pactec EK4 (wrapping) machinery.
· Supervise and mentor a team of manufacturing engineers on the tools coaching and regular one to ones.
· Root Cause Analysis: Move beyond quick fixes to identify and eliminate recurring mechanical or electrical failures.
- Provide ‘hands on’ technical support to production for troubleshooting equipment, processes, and product issues.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to increase energy efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
· Process & Operations PPM Optimisation: Manage the Agility system to schedule and verify completion of Planned Preventative Maintenance.
Hours of work
Our engineers work on rotating shifts between- 05:45 & 23:00 and the expectation of the Engineering Lead will be that they primarily work during office hours to span across shift patterns. However, this role will occasionally need to cover shifts to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifications
An experienced engineer holding a relevant qualification, you should be multi skilled with proven experience in a food manufacturing environment and previous supervisory experience. With a passion to coach and develop others, you will demonstrate the highest standards in your work, your approach to health and safety and role model our company values.
With an organised and flexible approach, you should have strong communication and leadership abilities, with a hands-on approach. Analytical, you will have excellent problem solving and project management skills.
IT literate, experience of Agility would be advantageous.
Pay: £52,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
