About Us
We are a busy and vibrant bar open four days a week, with a large function room that regularly hosts private events, celebrations, and large-scale catering. As we continue to grow, we are launching a brand-new food offering in our main bar area so we can serve great food every day we’re open—not just during functions.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and capable Chef / Cook to take a leading role in delivering this new food concept.
The Role
This is a hands-on kitchen role where you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality food service in both our main bar area and for large events in our function space. You’ll help design and develop a quirky, creative small plates menu that stands out locally, changes seasonally and with a focus on bar-style and street-food-inspired dishes rather than a traditional pub menu.
You’ll work closely with management and the wider team to establish kitchen standards, maintain consistency, and ensure excellent service during busy periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook high-quality food for both bar service and large functions/events
- Help design, develop, and refresh menus that are creative and appealing
- Deliver fast, efficient short-order service during busy bar periods
- Manage and support mass catering for large events and functions
- Take responsibility for kitchen cleanliness, organisation, and hygiene standards
- Ensure all food safety procedures meet Environmental Health regulations
- Work closely with bar staff and management to maintain smooth service
- Manage stock levels, ordering, and minimise waste where possible
- Maintain consistency and quality across all food service
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience working in a kitchen environment
- Experience with short-order cooking in a fast-paced setting
- Experience catering for large events or high-volume service
- Strong understanding of food hygiene and environmental health standards
- Ability to maintain kitchen organisation and cleanliness independently
- Experience with menu creation and food concept development
- A team player who communicates well with both kitchen and front-of-house staff
- Ability to stay calm and organised during busy service periods
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends
Desirable Skills
- Experience working in bars, pubs, street food kitchens, or casual dining venues
- Knowledge of food costing, portion control, and stock management
- Ability to contribute creative ideas for new dishes and menu specials
- Experience preparing food for buffets, functions, and event catering
- Understanding of kitchen workflow and service efficiency
- Basic leadership skills or experience supervising kitchen operations
