We are looking for an experienced and motivated Engineering Technician to join our Engineering team in Abertillery.
This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the manufacture of cable assemblies, wire harnesses, box builds and panel assemblies. You will work closely with both Engineering and Production, turning customer drawings and technical information into practical manufacturing processes.
You will be involved in everything from manufacturing documentation and tooling design to production support, equipment maintenance, testing and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Create clear manufacturing instructions and routing sheets for production.
- Create and maintain parts, BOMs and routings within the ERP system.
- Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshoot production issues.
- Support cable assembly, wire harness, crimping, soldering and box/panel build activities.
- Design and build jigs, fixtures and formboards/pegboards for manufacturing and cable routing.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and first-article builds.
- Set up, calibrate and maintain production and test equipment.
- Work with equipment including automatic wire strip/terminate machines, crimp presses and pull-testers.
- Develop and maintain equipment maintenance plans through the CMMS system.
- Support quality investigations and root-cause analysis.
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC-A-610 standards.
- Identify opportunities for Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with Production and Engineering to improve quality, efficiency and build times.
What We’re Looking ForEssential
- Level 3 Engineering qualification or above.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Ability to interpret mechanical engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of wiring, crimping, soldering and wire preparation.
- Familiarity with electrical test equipment such as multimeters and continuity testers.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Practical and analytical approach to problem solving.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy manufacturing environment.
Desirable
- Experience in electrical, electronic or contract manufacturing.
- Experience with cable assemblies, wire harnesses, panel builds or box builds.
- Experience with 2D/3D CAD packages such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
- Experience designing manufacturing jigs, fixtures or tooling.
- Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC-A-610.
- Experience using ERP or CMMS systems.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.

The Working Environment
This is an on-site position in Abertillery, split between the Engineering office and manufacturing floor.
The role involves hands-on work with small components, cable assemblies and prototype builds, so good manual dexterity and attention to detail are important.
