Justteachers are recruiting for a SEND learning support assistant to work within one of our specialist partner SEND schools located in Preston. The school provides education to SEND children with a range of complex needs from 2-11 years of age. This role is to start in September 2026.
Role Overview:
This role is to work with a small group of children with specific needs including ASC and SLD. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children who have SEND. They will be committed to providing individualised support, promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with a range of SEND, including physical, sensory, emotional, and learning difficulties.
- Assist in the delivery of tailored interventions and personalised learning plans.
- Support students with their daily routines and tasks within the classroom and school environment.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to monitor progress and ensure appropriate strategies are in place.
- Help create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Support students in developing social skills, independence, and emotional resilience.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times, following safeguarding procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience working in an educational setting with children who have SEND needs.
- Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support strategies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
- Relevant qualifications in education, child development, or a related field (desirable).
