Evoke Care is looking for a motivated and experienced Children's Home Deputy Manager to join our team in Croydon.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to develop their career in children's residential care, with a clear progression pathway towards a Registered Manager position.
You will play a key role in the day-to-day management and development of the home, working closely with the senior leadership team to establish and maintain high standards of care, safeguarding and compliance.
We are particularly interested in candidates who are ambitious, committed to children's residential care and want to develop into a Registered Manager in the future.
You will be working with children and young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEMH/EBD), learning disabilities and other complex needs, helping them develop emotionally, socially and practically and achieve positive outcomes.
The Role
As Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management, development and success of our children's residential home. Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will help establish a safe, nurturing and high-quality environment where children and young people can thrive.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Support Worker, Team Leader or Deputy Manager who is looking to develop their leadership career and progress towards a Registered Manager position.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the day-to-day management and development of the children's home.
- Taking responsibility for shifts and ensuring the home operates safely and effectively.
- Leading, supervising, mentoring and supporting the residential care team.
- Promoting high standards of safeguarding, care and practice.
- Ensuring care plans, risk assessments, daily records and other documentation are maintained to a high standard.
- Supporting staff to manage challenging situations and promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Monitoring the quality of care and ensuring children and young people receive consistent, person-centred support.
- Building positive relationships with children, young people, families and professionals.
- Working effectively with social workers, education providers, health professionals and other agencies.
- Supporting the home to meet Ofsted requirements, Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
- Contributing to audits, inspections, reviews and continuous improvement.
- Identifying areas for improvement and helping to develop effective systems and procedures within the home.
- Promoting independence, life skills and positive outcomes for children and young people.
- Supporting the development and performance of the staff team through effective supervision, guidance and role modelling.
- Taking increasing responsibility for the management and compliance of the home as your experience develops.
- Working towards progression into a Registered Manager role, with appropriate support, training and development.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced and motivated children's residential care professional who is ready to take the next step in their career and develop towards a Registered Manager position.

Essential
- Previous experience working in an Ofsted-registered children's residential home.
- Experience in a Senior Support Worker, Team Leader or Deputy Manager role.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
- Previous experience supervising, mentoring and supporting staff.
- Experience working with children and young people with SEMH, EBD, autism, learning disabilities or other complex needs.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Good working knowledge of Ofsted requirements, Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
- Experience maintaining and reviewing care plans, risk assessments and care records.
- Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills.
- Ability to remain calm, professional and make appropriate decisions in challenging situations.
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes, promoting independence and supporting the wellbeing of children and young people.
- Ambition and willingness to progress towards a Registered Manager role.
- Right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
Desirable
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager in a children's residential home.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
- Experience supporting or preparing for Ofsted inspections
- Experience contributing to audits, quality improvement and service development.
