About the Role- The mews Care Home
We are looking for an experienced and caring Chef to join our care home team. You will be responsible for preparing fresh, nutritious and appealing meals for our residents, while ensuring their dietary, nutritional and individual needs are met.
The successful candidate will take pride in creating high-quality meals and understand the importance of providing food that is both enjoyable and suitable for older people and those with specific dietary requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare nutritious, balanced and varied meals for residents.
- Cater for individual dietary requirements, allergies, intolerances and cultural preferences.
- Prepare meals suitable for residents with specific needs, including modified-texture diets where required.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety.
- Follow food safety procedures and maintain accurate records.
- Manage food stock, ordering and storage to minimise waste.
- Work closely with care and management teams to understand residents' dietary needs.
- Support menu planning and adapt menus based on residents' preferences and feedback.
- Ensure meals are prepared and served on time.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
- Follow relevant care home policies, food safety regulations and infection-control procedures.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working as a Chef, ideally within a care home, healthcare or similar setting.
- Has a genuine interest in preparing food for older and vulnerable people.
- Understands food hygiene and safe food preparation.
- Is confident catering for different dietary requirements.
- Has good organisation and time-management skills.
- Can work independently and as part of a wider care team.
- Has a positive, reliable and compassionate approach.
- Holds a relevant Food Hygiene qualification or is willing to complete one.
Desirable
- Previous care home or healthcare catering experience.
- Knowledge of modified-texture diets and nutritional requirements.
- Level 2 Food Safety/Hygiene qualification.
- Relevant catering qualification.
Pay: £14.50 per hour
