An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Family Information and Advice Officer within Enfield Children’s MASH.
Our MASH in Enfield is the Front Door for referrals into our Early Help Services and Children’s Social Care. We are a co-located service with several partner agencies who support our work with children, young people and their families.

The purpose of MASH is to make timely, coordinated and proportionate enquiries to ensure vulnerable children are safe in respect of contacts received and that they receive the right support at the right time. One of the integral parts of completing an enquiry is working closely with partner agencies to assess risk, share information and make proportionate decisions jointly about the best way to safeguard and meet the needs of vulnerable children and families. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
The responsibility of working with families where the decisions you make and the power of your influence can shape and change lives, can be difficult. You will have day to day access to experienced team members for consultation to support you in your role.
Enfield is situated in North London and is a culturally diverse borough. Its wards include both the 20% most affluent and deprived areas in the country, with a mix of industrial areas, residential and countryside.
You will be based in the bubbling heart of Enfield Town in a modern newly designed client facing service hub. The new office has bespoke areas for service users and is an environment which supports our smart working policy, surrounded by small businesses, bars, restaurants, a buzzing high street and shopping centre. We have good transport links into Central London and are easily accessible to the M25, A10 and A406.

What you will be doing:
This role involves responsibilities such as:

Gathering comprehensive information as part of the MASH enquiry to effectively identify risk, protective factors and address any safeguarding concerns in liaison with the Social Worker/ Advanced Social Work Practitioner/Team Manager.

Provision of feedback to referrers on the outcome of the contact including where no further action has been taken to partner agencies, other organisations, and members of the public as appropriate and within timescale.

Ensuring relevant information is shared appropriately and in line with appropriate Data Protection legislation (GDPR) and Working Together 2023.

Provision of information and advice to professionals about resources and services that will meet the needs of children and families.

Working closely with the Social Workers/Advanced Social Work Practitioners/Team Manager to deal effectively with all enquiries from a variety of sources (including members of the public, service users, internal departments, and professionals from other agencies) and to provide information and advice on safeguarding matters.

Liaising closely with MASH partner agencies in undertaking MASH enquiries, to contribute to a seamless and transparent multi-agency, customer focused response for children, young people and their families.

Ensuring that information is shared with partners in accordance with the information sharing agreement.

Working in partnership with internal and external partners to improve collaboration, coordination, and support within a multi-agency environment.

Effectively and comprehensively gathering and analysing sensitive and confidential data on the relevant database.

Maintaining accurate and up to date records in accordance with Data Protection legislation and to enable the production of statistical and management reports reports as required.
About you:
Although there are no specific qualifications required for these roles, previous experience in working with children and families would be beneficial. You would need excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and analytical skills. You need to have experience of being able to work effectively as part of a team, be able to manage competing demands and have the ability to work well in a high-pressure environment.
