Our Grand Arcade salon is located in the heart of Cambridge and serves a varied and loyal client base. Due to continued growth, we are now looking for an experienced and motivated Hair Stylist to join our amazing team.
This position would suit someone who is passionate about hairdressing, takes pride in their work and wants to become a valued, long-term member of the salon. We are looking for more than technical ability, we want someone who genuinely cares about their clients, supports their colleagues and understands the importance of contributing to the overall success of the business.
The Role
As an experienced Hair Stylist at Elem, you will provide a full range of professional cutting, colouring, styling and consultation services while building strong and lasting relationships with your clients.
You will be expected to deliver consistently excellent results, maintain high professional standards and take responsibility for developing and retaining your clientele.
You will also play an active role within the salon team, helping to create a positive working environment and ensuring that every client receives the level of service expected from Elem.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality cutting, colouring, highlighting, balayage, styling and finishing services.
- Carry out thorough consultations and provide honest, professional advice based on each client’s hair, lifestyle, and desired result.
- Maintain excellent technical standards and ensure services are completed safely and professionally.
- Build strong client relationships and actively encourage client retention and repeat bookings.
- Recommend appropriate professional haircare products and home-maintenance advice.
- Manage your appointment column responsibly, including timings, client records, consultations, and future bookings.
- Provide an exceptional client experience from arrival through to departure.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the salon environment.
- Support junior team members and share knowledge where appropriate.
- Assist with maintaining the cleanliness, presentation, and day-to-day organisation of the salon.
- Participate in training, team meetings, salon events, promotional activity, and content creation where required.
- Take responsibility for your own performance, professional development, and contribution to the salon’s success.
- Represent Elem professionally both inside and outside the workplace.
About You
The successful candidate will:
- Be a qualified and experienced Hair Stylist.
- Have strong cutting, colouring, consultation, and finishing skills.
- Be confident working independently with clients.
- Have a genuine passion for hairdressing and delivering excellent results.
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Take pride in their appearance, work, and professional standards.
- Be dependable, punctual, organised, and commercially aware.
- Understand the importance of client retention, recommendations, rebooking, and retail.
- Be willing to support colleagues and contribute to the wider salon rather than focusing solely on their own clients.
- Be open to feedback, further education, and continued professional development.
- Have a positive attitude and a genuine desire to build a successful career with Elem.
An existing clientele would be welcomed but is not essential, provided you have the confidence, commitment, and motivation to build a strong client base.
