At MTS Scaffolding Ltd, we are looking for a reliable, hardworking and motivated scaffold yard operative to join our growing team. The Scaffold Yard Operative plays a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the business by maintaining the scaffold yard, preparing scaffold materials and equipment, and ensuring company vehicles are accurately loaded and ready for the following day’s work. The successful candidate will help maintain a safe, organised and efficient working environment while supporting the operational team.
Hours
Part-time - 30 hours per week
Normal working hours:
Monday - Friday 14:00 - 20:00
Please note due to the nature of the business, occasional flexibility may be required and working hours may vary to meet operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately load company lorries with scaffold materials and equipment ready for the following day’s jobs, ensuring all required materials are prepared and loaded safely and efficiently.
- Safely unload returning company vehicles.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and organised scaffold yard at all times.
- Clean and prepare company lorries and vehicles as required.
- Sort, stack and organise scaffold tubes, fittings, boards and associated equipment.
- Prepare scaffold materials for upcoming projects.
- Carry out basic visual inspections of scaffold materials and report any damaged or defective equipment.
- Ensure scaffold materials are stored safely and correctly.
- Support the yard team with general day-to-day duties as required.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures and wear the appropriate PPE at all times.

Desirable but not essential
- Previous experience working in a scaffold yard, construction or similar environment.
- Forklift Truck (FLT) experience or licence
- HGV licence.
- Knowledge of scaffold materials and equipment.
Training
Full training will be provided, including company procedures, manual handling and safe yard operations.
Working Conditions
- The role is based within an indoor scaffold yard however the operative will be required to work outdoors work in all weather conditions as part of day to day operations.
- Regular manual handling of scaffold materials.
- Use of company equipment and vehicles where authorised.
- PPE must be worn at all times.
