A welcoming and high-achieving secondary school in Gloucester is seeking an enthusiastic Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team for the full academic year from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering teacher training, educational psychology, or wider careers in education.
About the Role
As a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with the Science department to support students both inside and outside the classroom. You'll help pupils develop their scientific knowledge, provide targeted intervention sessions, Key Stage 3 learners, and contribute to creating an engaging and positive learning environment.
You'll also gain invaluable experience working alongside experienced Science teachers, making this an ideal stepping stone towards teacher training.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to help students develop their scientific knowledge and understanding
- Assist students with classwork, practical activities, coursework, and exam preparation
- Help build students' confidence and engagement with Science
- Assist with preparing classroom resources and learning materials
- Support students with varying learning needs to ensure they reach their potential
- Encourage curiosity, participation, and a positive attitude towards Science
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
What We're Looking For
- A recent Science graduate or degree in a related subject
- Previous experience working with young people in a school, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or similar setting
- Strong subject knowledge and excellent communication skills
- A positive, proactive, and adaptable approach
- A genuine passion for Science and supporting student progress
- An interest in pursuing a career in teaching or education is highly desirable
