We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school team in Towcester. This is a full-time, fixed-term position until the end of the academic year, providing 1:1 support for a child with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). For the right candidate, there is a potential option for this to transfer to a permanent contract.
The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the child access learning, develop positive relationships and achieve their full potential within a nurturing and inclusive school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH and ASC needs.
- Support the child's emotional regulation, social development and engagement with learning.
- Implement strategies and interventions as directed by the class teacher and SENDCo.
- Foster a positive, safe and supportive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, external professionals and the wider school team.
- Monitor progress and contribute to record-keeping and review meetings where required.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with children with SEMH needs and/or Autism Spectrum Condition.
- A patient, calm and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to adapt learning and support strategies to meet individual needs.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
