Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated, reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to join our close knit kitchen team in our ICE Restaurant. This role is essential in supporting the smooth running of our kitchen operations, ensuring cleanliness, organisation, and efficient food preparation. This role is full time, working compressed hours over four days Thursday to Sunday but we will also consider part time applications from the right candidate. Responsibilities
- Helping to maintain high levels of cleanliness in the public areas including the toilets, kitchens and restaurant
- Attending any training as and when required including health and safety and food hygiene
- Ensuring that a safe working environment is always maintained in line with health and safety guidelines
- Ensuring washing up is completed each shift to the standards set by the Head Chef
- Ensuring all clean washing up is put away neatly in its correct place in the kitchen
- Removing all refuse from the kitchens as required and clearing it at the end of each shift
- Ensuring floors are clear of debris and food at all times
- Sweeping and mopping floors at the end of each shift and earlier if required
- Ensuring all mops and buckets and the mop cleaning area are always kept clean
- Advising the chefs of any items required to complete porters tasks
- Assisting chefs with basic food preparation
- Assisting with keeping Cookschool clean
- Supporting FOH when needed
- Reporting any breakages or concerns to the chefs
- Ensuring the overall cleanliness of the kitchens, surfaces, dishwasher, equipment etc
- Ensuring you speak to the senior chef on duty after each shift to ensure all work has been completed to the required standard
- Looking for any inconveniences to our guests and acting upon them.
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks, including washing, peeling, and chopping ingredients under supervision.
Qualifications
- No formal experience required; previous hospitality or kitchen experience is a plus but not essential.
- Basic understanding of food handling and safety procedures is advantageous.
- The ability to organise and plan work activities with your line manager
- Very high cleanliness and hygiene standards
- Positive and effective communication skills both verbal and written
- The ability to deal calmly with unexpected situations and to work well under pressure during busy periods
- The flexibility to work the hours deemed necessary by the business
- Reliability and a desire to take pride in your work
- A high level of professionalism and a high standard of service
- An understanding of natural hospitality and the ability to show empathy towards our guests
- The ability to adhere to agreed company personal appearance standards at all times
