Housing Solutions Officer – Housing
Hours: 37 Hours Per Week, Office-based
Contract: 24 Week Temporary Contract
We're recruiting Housing Solutions Officers to join Council's Housing Solutions & Prevention Service. This is a vital frontline role, ideal for someone experienced in homelessness prevention and confident in applying statutory duties under the Housing (Wales) Act 2014.
About the Role
As a Housing Solutions Officer, you'll deliver early intervention and homelessness prevention services, working directly with households at risk of homelessness. You'll provide tailored housing advice, negotiate with landlords and family members, develop Personal Housing Plans, and support clients to sustain accommodation wherever safe and appropriate.
What you'll be doing
- Delivering housing advice and homelessness prevention in line with the Housing (Wales) Act 2014
- Conducting housing solutions interviews and assessments, ensuring compliance with statutory duties
- Developing Personal Housing Plans and supporting clients to sustain tenancies
- Negotiating with landlords, family members, and agencies to prevent homelessness
- Making statutory decisions and issuing clear legal decision letters
- Determining eligibility for housing assistance and arranging temporary accommodation when required
- Managing caseloads efficiently, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely casework
- Liaising with support agencies, statutory services, and voluntary organisations to improve outcomes
- Participating in duty rotas and outreach activities
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone empathetic, organised, and experienced in homelessness casework.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience of working in homelessness in line with the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 (essential)
- Experience making statutory decisions under housing legislation
- Strong case management and assessment skills
- Knowledge of housing law, private sector tenancy regulations, and homelessness prevention duties
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple agencies
- Commitment to supporting vulnerable individuals and achieving sustainable housing outcomes
