An opportunity has arisen at our Strood depot for a Yard Person. This role will support the Strood site with the collection, delivery and parking of company and customer vehicles, and monitoring of vehicles on-site to ensure vehicles are parked safely and yard space is maximised. You will also be manoeuvring vehicles in and out of the workshop for the technicians to work on.
Key responsibilities include: -
- Booking in vehicles
- Brake Tests (full training will be given)
- Liaising with visitors, customers and staff to ensure safe parking is adhered to at all times
- Providing guidance on relocation of vehicles as necessary
- Maximising use of yard space in accordance with site parking rules
- Ensuring vehicles parked on site are not restricting access at any time
- Manoeuvring vehicles in and out of the workshop in a timely manner to ensure they are available for the Technicians to work on.
- Checking of vehicles before returning to customer
- Ensuring yard and recycling areas are kept clean and tidy
Essential Qualities include:-
- Current driving licence with category CE
- Previously worked in a role driving HGVs and commercial vehicles
- Computer literate
- Self-disciplined
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to use own initiative and work alone without supervision
- Team Player
- Ability to prioritise
- Good face to face communication skills
Desirable Qualities include:-
- Previous experience of a Yard Person role
- Experience of dealing with customers
