Due to continued growth in demand for domestic solar PV, battery storage and EV charging systems, we are looking for an enthusiastic Electrical Improver to join our expanding Installation Team.
This role is ideal for someone who has either completed an electrical apprenticeship or is in the final stages of completing one and wants to build a long-term career within the renewable energy sector.
Working alongside experienced renewable energy electricians, you'll receive structured training, mentoring and practical experience while developing specialist skills in one of the UK's fastest-growing industries.
The Role
You will work alongside our experienced installation teams, assisting with the installation, commissioning and maintenance of domestic solar PV systems, battery storage and EV charging equipment.
This is a hands-on role where you'll gain practical experience across all aspects of renewable energy installations while continuing to develop your electrical knowledge and technical competence.
You'll work on a wide variety of domestic projects throughout the South West and South Wales, learning industry best practice from one of the UK's most experienced renewable energy companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation of domestic solar PV systems.
- Assist with battery storage installations.
- Assist with EV charger installations.
- Carry out electrical wiring in accordance with BS 7671.
- Assist with testing, inspection and commissioning of installations.
- Support fault finding and rectification works.
- Work safely and professionally in accordance with company procedures and health & safety legislation.
- Deliver high standards of workmanship and customer service.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools and equipment.
- Complete installation documentation accurately.
- Work closely with senior electricians and installation teams to continually develop your technical skills.
- Represent SolarSense professionally when working at customers' homes.
Essential Requirements
- Completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship or be in the final stages of completing one.
- Good understanding of domestic electrical installation.
- Good working knowledge of BS 7671 Wiring Regulations.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Excellent work ethic and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation (or working towards completion).
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- ECS Card.
- Inspection & Testing qualification (2391 or equivalent).
- Experience working within domestic electrical installations.
- Experience of working at height.
- Previous exposure to solar PV, battery storage or EV charging installations.
Previous renewable energy experience is desirable but not essential. Full training will be provided.

Following successful completion of your apprenticeship (where applicable), completion of your renewable energy training and demonstration of competence, there will be opportunities to progress into a Renewable Energy Electrician role, with increased responsibility and further salary progression.
