Job Title: Residential Service Chef (Small Home – Under 10 Residents)
Hours: 11:00am – 6:00pm, 5 days per week (flexible days)
Location: Eastbourne
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Chef to support our small residential service of under 10 residents. You will prepare fresh, nutritious meals in a calm, homely environment and adapt dishes to suit individual dietary needs, including SALT/IDDSI texture levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook lunch and dinner each day for all residents.
- Adapt meals to meet individual needs, including IDDSI/SALT texture levels (soft, minced & moist, puréed) and food allergies.
- Plan varied, balanced menus that meet nutritional and organisational guidelines.
- Ensure safe allergen management and complete accurate food safety documentation.
- Conduct regular kitchen audits, temperature checks, and maintain all kitchen records.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, including daily cleaning tasks and scheduled deep cleans.
- Order all food and kitchen supplies, manage stock rotation, and reduce food waste.
- Communicate with residents and staff about preferences, needs, and menu planning.
- Follow all food hygiene, health and safety, and safeguarding requirements.
About You
- Experience cooking for groups in residential care, hospitality, or similar settings.
- Confident preparing texture-modified diets and managing allergies.
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage a kitchen independently.
- Reliable, warm, and committed to supporting residents’ wellbeing.
- Holds (or willing to obtain) Food Hygiene qualifications.
