We are looking for an experienced, dedicated, and motivated individual to join our friendly kitchen team within our warm and welcoming residents’ home.

About the Role
As a Weekend Cook, you will report to the Head Chef to support the preparation and serving fresh, nutritious, and well-balanced meals that meet residents’ individual needs, preferences, and dietary requirements.
This is a hands-on role combining food preparation, kitchen support, cleanliness, and meal service, ensuring residents receive an excellent dining experience every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and serving meals in a timely, safe, and professional manner
- Supporting the Head Chef with menu planning and meal preparation
- Catering for special dietary requirements and texture-modified diets
- Ensuring food preparation promotes choice, dignity, and independence
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety
- Assisting with stock rotation, stock control, and monitoring expiry dates
- Ensuring kitchen equipment is used safely and maintained correctly
- Following all food hygiene, health & safety, and company procedures
- Cleaning kitchen areas and ensuring cleaning schedules are completed
- Liaising with care staff and residents in a polite, respectful, and person-centred way
- Supporting the wellbeing, safety, and welfare of residents at all times
About You
You will have previous experience working within a kitchen environment and a genuine passion for preparing quality food.
Experience within a care home, or similar catering environment would be beneficial, although full training and ongoing support will be provided.
Essential:
- Previous experience working in a kitchen or chef role
- Valid Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
- Strong understanding of food hygiene and safe food storage
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable, organised, and motivated approach to work
- Ability to work alternate weekends
Desirable:
- Experience working within a care home setting
- Knowledge of texture-modified diets and specialist dietary needs
- Experience supporting residents living with Dementia
- Cookery qualification such as City & Guilds or equivalent
