This role would suit someone who combines technical design ability with genuine joinery knowledge.
You may already be working as a Joinery Design Technician, CAD Technician, Joinery Draughtsperson, Furniture Designer or Technical Designer.
You will be naturally precise, organised and comfortable checking your own work before issuing drawings.
Key Attributes
Accuracy — dimensions and details must be correct.
Joinery knowledge — you must understand how joinery is constructed.
Spatial awareness — you must be able to visualise spaces, components and potential installation issues.
Attention to detail — you will notice discrepancies before they become costly problems.
Practical thinking — designs need to work in manufacture and on site, not just on screen. Be able to think outside the box for challenging projects
Communication — you will be able to turn customer requirements into clear technical information.
Software Experience
Experience using joinery and manufacturing design software is highly desirable, particularly:
- Articad
- Cabinet Vision
- Alphacam
- Other relevant CAD/CAM or joinery design software
This is an important role within the project process, providing the technical link between the customer's requirements, the site, design, manufacture and installation.
