We are looking for an experienced Semi Senior Accountant to join our growing team in Belper.
This role is aimed at someone who has built strong experience within accountancy practice and is now looking for greater responsibility, more direct client involvement and a clear opportunity to progress towards Senior Accountant level.
You won’t simply be processing accounts. We want you to take ownership of assignments, develop your own client relationships, identify issues and increasingly become someone that both clients and junior members of the team can rely upon.
You’ll have support from experienced managers and directors while being given the space and responsibility to continue developing.

What You’ll Be Doing
You will take greater ownership of your own portfolio and assignments, including:
· Preparing year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
· Taking accounts assignments from receipt of client records through to review stage.
· Preparing accounts from a variety of records, including incomplete records where required.
· Preparing detailed working papers and supporting schedules to a good review standard.
· Preparation and review of bookkeeping and VAT returns.
· Preparing corporation tax computations and returns.
· Preparing Self Assessment tax returns and personal tax computations.
· Reviewing client records and proactively identifying accounting, taxation and information queries.
· Communicating directly with clients to obtain information, resolve queries and discuss their accounts.
· Managing your own workload and ensuring assignments are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
· Recognising more complex issues and knowing when these need to be discussed with a manager or director.
· Supporting and providing guidance to more junior members of the team.
· Working directly with managers and directors on more complex assignments and client matters.
What We’re Looking For
You will need:
· At least 4 years’ recent experience working within an accountancy practice.
· To be AAT Level 4 qualified.
· Strong experience preparing statutory accounts for limited companies.
· Experience preparing accounts for sole traders and partnerships.
· Experience preparing corporation tax and personal tax computations.
· Good working knowledge of VAT and bookkeeping.
· A strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and accounting principles.
· The ability to take ownership of assignments through to review stage with limited supervision.
· The ability to identify accounting and taxation issues rather than simply process client records.
· Confidence dealing directly with clients and resolving queries.
· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
· The ability and willingness to support more junior colleagues as you develop.
Experience using Xero and other cloud accounting packages would be beneficial.
Your Progression
We are specifically looking for someone who wants to develop beyond Semi Senior level.
For the right person, this role provides a clear route towards becoming a Senior Accountant within Whitemoor.
As you progress, we want you to take increasing responsibility for your own portfolio, develop stronger client relationships, handle more complex assignments and play a greater role in supporting and developing junior members of the team.
For someone who wants to continue their professional studies, we can also support progression towards ACCA or another relevant professional qualification where appropriate.
Your development will be supported by experienced managers and directors, with opportunities to become increasingly involved in wider client and business matters as your experience grows.
