Press Brake Operator
Our client in Swadlincote is looking to recruit a Press Brake Operator on a temp‑to‑perm basis. The role involves setting and operating press brake machinery to bend and form sheet metal components to precise drawing specifications.
Shift and Pay – Press Brake Operator
Morning shift: 06:00–14:00, Monday–Friday (fixed shift) Total: 37.5 hours per week Salary: £16.51 per hour(circa 32.2k p/annum), overtime paid at 1.33, 1.5 and 2.0x time
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate press brake machines according to technical specifications and work instructions
- Install and align tooling, punches, and dies correctly
- Perform test runs/first‑off checks to ensure accuracy and quality
- Bend, form, and shape sheet metal parts to tight drawing tolerances
- Measure finished parts using Vernier callipers, protractors, gauges, and other inspection tools
- Safely operate a forklift truck to move materials within the production area
- Conduct pre‑use checks on machinery and follow all safety procedures
- Monitor quality control processes and address any issues promptly
- Complete production documentation accurately
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organised work area
Experience and Requirements
- Strong knowledge and experience in setting and operating press brake machinery
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, bend deductions, tolerances, and material specifications
- Understanding of sheet metal types, bend allowances, and material behaviour
- Competent with measuring and inspection tools
- Valid FLT licence advantageous
- Physically fit and able to lift/move materials safely
- Basic maintenance and troubleshooting skills
