Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Person to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the care home building, grounds, and facilities are maintained to a safe, clean, and high standard, providing a comfortable and secure environment for residents, visitors, and staff. The maintenance person will carry out routine maintenance, basic repairs, painting and plumbing and support compliance with health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Carry out day-to-day maintenance and minor repairs, including plumbing, carpentry, decorating, and basic electrical tasks (where competent).
- Conduct regular inspections of the building, equipment, and grounds to identify maintenance needs and potential hazards.
- Maintain outdoor areas, including pathways, gardens, fencing, and car parks, ensuring they remain safe and tidy.
- Assemble, repair, and maintain furniture and equipment.
- Replace light bulbs, repair door handles, locks, shelving, and other fixtures.
- Monitor heating, ventilation, and water systems, reporting faults as required.
- Liaise with external contractors for specialist repairs and ensure work is completed safely and to the required standard.
- Maintain maintenance records and complete job logs accurately.
- Ensure tools and maintenance equipment are used safely and stored securely.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and management.
- Assist with room preparation for new admissions and refurbishment projects.
- Support emergency maintenance issues and participate in on-call arrangements where required.
Skills
- Proven experience in maintenance roles ideally in a care home.
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of fire safety, health and safety and building compliance.
- Basic electrical maintenance knowledge (within competency).
Pay: £12.71-£13.25 per hour
