At Cut Price Timber, we supply quality timber and building materials to both trade and public customers. Based in Tranent, we serve customers from our busy timber yard and online store, helping with everything from fencing and decking to landscaping and general building projects.
We're looking for a friendly, organised, and proactive Front Desk Sales Assistant to join our team. You'll be involved in customer service, sales administration, social media, marketing, stock management, and supporting the day-to-day running of the business.
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday: 7:30 am – 5:00 pm
Availability to work alternating Saturdays (8:00 am – 1:00 pm) as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent customer service by assisting customers face-to-face, over the phone, and via email.
- Creating and posting content for our social media channels, including Facebook and Instagram, to showcase our products and keep customers engaged.
- Speaking with customers, answering enquiries, offering product advice, preparing quotations, and processing orders and invoices.
- Providing excellent customer service and building strong relationships with both new and existing customers.
- Helping to manage stock levels, keeping displays tidy, and identifying products that need to be reordered.
- Coordinating customer orders and helping organise delivery schedules to keep everything running smoothly.
- Being one of the main points of contact at the trade counter, welcoming customers and representing Cut Price Timber in a professional and approachable way.
What We Are Looking For
Ideally, you'll have:
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to manage several tasks at once.
- Confidence using social media, with experience of Canva being an advantage.
- A positive, reliable, and proactive approach to work.
- The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Experience in sales, retail, or the builders' merchant industry would be great, but it's not essential. If you're keen to learn and have the right attitude, we'd love to hear from you. Experience with videography or video editing would also be a bonus.
