Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Care Home Cook to join our vibrant team. Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals tailored to residents’ dietary requirements, preferences, and nutritional guidelines
- Plan weekly menus in collaboration with the care team, residents and families, incorporating balanced and appealing options
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards
- Manage kitchen stock levels, including ordering supplies and monitoring expiration dates to minimize waste
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including equipment, utensils, and storage spaces
- Serve meals to residents in a friendly, respectful manner, fostering a positive dining experience
- Record food temperatures, meal portions, and other relevant documentation as required by health regulations
- Work alongside our current Cook as Kitchen Assistant as needed (within your contracted hours)
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene standards
- Ability to follow recipes accurately while adapting to special dietary needs
- Excellent organisational skills for managing meal schedules and kitchen inventory
- Experience with meal preparation for large groups or institutional settings such as care homes or restaurants
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with care staff and residents
- Serving experience is beneficial, demonstrating friendly customer service during mealtimes
Pay: From £12.71 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 – 35.0 per week
